Saratoga Horses in Focus for Saturday, September 1st (Woodward Day)

Race 5: Plainsman (#7)

The Pace Projector is predicting he will get a fast pace to close into.

Gets a positive trainer switch to Brad Cox.

Should appreciate the stretch-out to 9 furlongs.

7-2 on ML

Race 9: Up the Ante (#1)

Should be able to control this race on the front end, as he did in the Manila last time.

Seems to shut off nicely when he gets into a rhythm on the lead, and he’s bred to get the extra distance.

The turf course should be firm and the rail should give him an advantage by the time this race is run on Saturday.

7-2 on ML

Race 11: Kurilov (#7)

Was hindered by drifting down to a dead rail in the final quarter mile of the Alydar.

Has run primarily on turf in this country but may be better on dirt.

The Pace Projector is predicting a situation favoring horses close to the pace, and he at least possesses some tactical speed.

10-1 on ML

Race 12: Onthemoonagain (#3)

Was put into a tight spot in the stretch last time and lost all chance while steadying repeatedly.

Should appreciate the stretch-out in distance, since her best races in France came over longer trips.

Has been working very well in the morning since getting that prep under her belt.

3-1 on ML
