Saratoga Horses in Focus for Monday, July 23rd

Race 5: Ekhtibaar (#9)

Actually ran pretty well in his turf debut nearly 3 years ago.

Is bred to excel on grass, since his dam was a Group 2-placed turfer and hails from all an-turf female family.

DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past 5 years, Chad Brown is 6 for 9 (67 percent, $5.70 ROI) with horses switching from dirt to turf when entered for a tag at Saratoga.

5-2 on ML

Race 7: Chanteline (#9)

Has deceptively strong turf form despite having only run over this surface four times.

Got a taxing trip while wide in her turf debut over this course last year and then made a wild late run after a disastrous start at Keeneland last October.

Defeated today’s likely favorite Triple Chelsea in a stakes back in December.

15-1 on ML

Race 8: Harangue (#3)

Was in over his head last time in his first start off this positive trainer switch.

May have needed more ground in his last race, as he galloped out well in front of the field after the wire.

Juan Carlos Gerrerro gets a 100 TimeformUS Trainer Rating with horses making their second start off a layoff.

7-2 on ML
