Belmont Park Horses in Focus for Thursday, June 21st

Race 1: Cumberland River (#7)

Got a favorable pace setup last time, but nevertheless ran very well to win.

Possesses the tactical speed to stay closer to the pace, which is important going this distance.

Deserves a second chance at a career on turf after being gelded prior to his last start.

4-1 on ML

Race 4: Soar From Shadows (#6)

Did well to overcome a very slow pace last time in a race where the “official” fractions are likely incorrect.

The winner of her last, Complicit, returned to win and improve her speed figure.

Runs like a filly who should appreciate added ground.

3-1 on ML

Race 6: Hannah’s Smile (#7)

Was too keen in her first start off the layoff last time, racing up close to a fast pace that collapsed behind the winner.

Her connections showed confidence last year by running her in tougher starter allowance races.

Should be fitter in her second start off the layoff.

3-1 on ML
