Belmont Park Horses in Focus for Friday, May 4th

Race 2: Regal Dame (#1)

Her runner-up finish at Fair Grounds in February was flattered by the subsequent performances of the first and third place finishers.

Ran better than it seems last time after getting pushed wide and steadied out of position on the far turn.

Should work out a good stalking trip this time.

2-1 on ML

Race 5: Stormy’s Song (#3)

Has had excuses in each of her last two dirt starts, as she broke slowly on Aug. 6 and didn’t care for the slop on Sep. 3

Brian Lynch gets a 93 TimeformUS Trainer Rating with horses coming off layoffs of this type in sprints.

Ran arguably her best race in her career debut, and she can again run well fresh here.

7-2 on ML

Race 8: Harlan Punch (#7)

Is in better form than it appears after running well to be third despite a terrible trip in the Excelsior.

Handled 10 furlongs back in February; seems to better suited to longer distances now than he had been previously.

Will fly under the radar in a race where Hard Study is going to be an underlay favorite.

6-1 on ML
