Belmont Horses in Focus for Sunday September 17th

Race 3: Old Upstart (#4)

Was compromised by a slow pace and rail-biased track at Saratoga last time.

Usually goes longer, but has run competitively around one-turn in the past.

There is some early speed in this field, and his 112 Late Pace Rating is over 20 points higher than those of any of his competitors.

8-1 on ML

Race 7: Lady of Miracles (#4)

Was compromised by a wide trip over a turf course that was favoring inside runners last time.

Put in a competitive effort in her debut.

Should show more speed as she gets blinkers and a rider switch to Luis Saez.

6-1 on ML

Race 8: Wicked Freud (#12)

Was rank and too close to the pace going two turns last time.

Prefers racing around one turn so this distance at Belmont is perfect for him.

Is finally getting some class relief after facing tougher fields in recent starts.

8-1 on ML
