Aqueduct | Race 8 | Post Time 5:17 p.m. (ET) | Go to the TimeformUS PPs
On a day that’s all about honoring the horses we’ve seen running over the inner track all winter, few are more deserving of recognition than one of my personal favorites – TESTOSTERSTONE (#6).
This horse has made huge strides over the past few months, having really blossomed while in the care of Gary Sciacca. His last effort looks disappointing at first glance, but I think you want to take that race with a grain of salt. The track had been changing due to some odd weather, and horses just weren’t able to make up ground in a race that was dominated on the front end. A mile may also be a tad short for this horse, who prefers to race closer to a more moderate early tempo. He handles wet tracks, in case there’s still moisture in the surface, and I’m confident he’ll be able to stay the nine furlongs.
He will have to turn the tables on his rival Stormin Monarcho (#4), but you wanted to have this horse last time when he was dismissed at odds of 9-2 and got the job done after working out an advantageous trip up close to the pace. He’s been in great form, but today he will have to deal with fellow speed Fox Rules on the front end. Fox Rules (#5) is no slouch in his own right, but his last performance may not be quite as strong as it appears considering that he was riding a gold rail for much of the way.
