Horses in Focus At Aqueduct and Santa Anita on Sunday February 28th

Hand-selected by The TimeformUS team, Horses in Focus stand out on our feature sets, such as pace projector, TimeformUS speed figures, spotlight ratings, trainer ratings, pedigree ratings, etc. Expect to see TimeformUS Horses in Focus on this blog typically every Wednesday-Sunday. If Horses in Focus are available for tracks with a later post-time, they will be added to this post throughout the day.

Race 1:

Midnight Trace (#4)
Set a fast pace last time and hung on well, earning the highest last-out speed figure.
Projected to be on the lead again, this time in a situation favoring the frontrunner.
Despite higher claiming price, race ratings indicate this is an easier spot.
5/1 on ML
Race 4:
Ganador (#6)
Projected to be close to the pace in a situation favoring horses near the lead.
Gets a positive trainer switch to Ed Barker off the private purchase.
Gets a significant rider upgrade to Eric Cancel.
6/1 on ML
Race 5:
Morethanjusthello (#7)
Had trouble at the start and then was badly impeded at the top of the stretch in her debut.
Horses have run back out of her debut to improve their speed figures by 22, 32, and 39 points.
May not have appreciated being hustled up to chase the pace in the early going last time.
10/1 on ML
Race 8:
Angry Moon (#6)
Is very dangerous when allowed to secure the early lead.
Hopped at the start last time, costing him any chance; raced four-wide around the turn thereafter.
Kendrick Carmouche figures to take advantage of the lack of pace in this race.
6/1 on ML

Race 1:

Margie’s Minute, the 1 horse:

Pace Projector has her on a clear early lead in a race projected to favor speed.

Has been facing tougher in all recent races.

She has competitive speed figures if you look past that last effort.

7-2 on ML.
Race 2:

Noble Kent, the 3 horse:

Trainer gets 90 rating with claimers up in class.

Trainer gets 94 rating in first start with barn.

His best speed figures can play in here.

7-2 on ML.
