On The Contrary: Del Mar’s Most Playable Longshots on Saturday

DontLetTheGamePassYouByfortfus

>>Saturday November 28th | Go To TFUS PPs for today’s races at Del Mar

Note: The goal of “On The Contrary” is to point out several horses every day who may be overlooked in the wagering and who can possibly add value to trifectas and superfectas (in high holes and low) and to Pick 3s, Pick 4s, etc. We will not be making “selections” per se in “On the Contrary.” Rather, we’ll encourage readers to give extra consideration to certain horses who may seem a little overmatched at first glance–but who are in fact the type of horses we often build our bets around. >>See related interview on betting longshots.

Race 1:

Starship Ekati:

12-1 on ML:

Pace Projector shows him on clear early lead. Has shown nothing to date, but took some play in his second start and has trained well enough off the gap. Finds paceless race and should be winging at a price.

Race 5:

Optimism And Hope:

12-1 on ML:

Barnmate Riri will will deservedly take money in here off two sterling wins, but Optimism And Hope has the look of a filly who could soon come into her own. Lost some ground racing wide last time. Showed improved early speed last time. Training very well since her last race.

Race 7:

Sharla Rae:

12-1 on ML:

See full-length write up of the Hollywood Derby.
Race 9:

Eckersley:

12-1 on ML:

This race figures to have a fast pace, and this colt (who goes for an underrated trainer) should be able to fold over behind the speed. Ran a new top of 109 off the layoff despite a wide trip and can get involved at a price if taking another step forward.
