Note: The goal of “On The Contrary” is to point out several horses every day who may be overlooked in the wagering and who can possibly add value to trifectas and superfectas (in high holes and low) and to Pick 3s, Pick 4s, etc. We will not be making “selections” per se in “On the Contrary.” Rather, we’ll encourage readers to give extra consideration to certain horses who may seem a little overmatched at first glance–but who are in fact the type of horses we often build our bets around. >>See related interview on betting longshots.
12-1 on ML:
Trouble at the start took this one out of his game. Can run with these if he gets a clean break. Can tuck in behind the Miller horse on the rail (who will surely be winging) and possibly hit the board at a big price. Trained well since that last debacle and fits on class and speed figures.
12-1 on ML:
Versatile filly has a hint of speed and can possibly use this post to good effect. Clockers badmouthing her latest workout. That is a concern, but it will help the price, and if she is in fact up to running her best, she fits with these at a price.
15-1 on ML:
Need giant price here. Something in the 20s, at minimum. Need a strong pace too. This filly ran better than it looks last time and can get involved in exotics late if she gets a clean trip.

In light, training superbly, and has as much talent as any of these.
