Chad Brown starts a short-priced entry in today’s 7th race at Belmont, which is set for 10 furlongs on the inner turf course. While it would be no surprise to see one his his two, #1 America’s Kitten or #1a Tweet Kitten, walk away victorious, we are not big fans of either of them.
Instead, we will try #5 King of Spades in this race. After a non-threatening debut at Saratoga, which was dominated up close, King of Spades improved in his second start. Stretched out to 1 1/2 miles, he finished gamely there to be second best to a promising winner, one who returned to confirm that effort with a good performance vs. winners at Kentucky Downs in his next start. While most of the others will be stretching out from shorter races for today’s race, King of Spades will be cutting back in distance, and his trainer, Graham Motion, gets two of his best Trainer Ratings with horses like this (93 with turf routers, 96 with routers at Belmont Park).
