#3 Distorted Beauty went 3 for 5 on turf as a 3yo, and just missed winning the Pebbles stakes while earning a new career top TFUS Speed Figure of 108 at the end of the year. Returned to the races as a 4yo, she has picked up where she left off.
She matched that 108 figure in her 2015 debut while making an impressive sweep around the field going shorter to win her first start back. Stepped back up into stakes company for her second start, she got jammed up in traffic and then finished strongly too late in the $150k Intercontinental, which was dominated up close. After racing wide and failing to impact Grade 3 company out of town, she returned to form last time over this turf course. Once again finding herself inside and behind a moderate pace, Distorted Beauty had no choice but to stay in and try to work her way through traffic. She did so gamely, and was knifing through between horses late while just coming up short at the end. She once again earned a new career top figure for that effort (115).
This is no easy race that Distorted Beauty has landed in, but she is an improved, and improving, 4yo, and we think she can go with these horses. She just needs a clean trip.
