TimeformUS Horses in Focus for Saturday August 1st at Saratoga and Del Mar

Hand-selected by The TimeformUS team, Horses in Focus stand out on our feature sets, such as pace projector, TimeformUS speed figures, spotlight ratings, trainer ratings, pedigree ratings, etc. Expect to see TimeformUS Horses in Focus on this blog typically every Wednesday-Sunday. If Horses in Focus are available for tracks with a later post-time, they will be added to this post throughout the day.

Race 5:

#5 Barbados

Returned from layoff to post new top TFUS Speed Figure of 107.

Has speed to keep up with the pace, and can still finish strongly.

Trainer doesn’t start many horses, but gets a rating of 89 second off the layoff.

7/2 on ML.

Race 7:

#5 Go Around

Improving 3yo impressed in win going long two starts back.

Proved rank and hard to handle early last time, and it may have cost him at the end.

Still earned new career top figure in that race.

9/2 on ML.

Race 11:

#3 Unrepenting

Earned career-best 93 TFUS Speed Figure in turf debut.

Was behind a couple of these in that race, but was away from a slow pace, and was never clear in the stretch.

Adds blinkers for this, a move for which his trainer gets a perfect 100 rating.

12/1 on ML.

Race 8:

Honey Ride, the 2 horse:

She keeps improving her speed figure.

Has proven she can come from off the pace.

Training beautifully for this.

Can get into exacta or trifecta at a price.

10-1 on ML.
Race 9:

Short Heat Wave, the 2 horse:

Can come from off the pace in race projected to have fast pace.

Draws good post and has competitive speed figures.

Training very well for this.

20-1 on ML.
