Santa Anita’s Sunday Highlight Horse: Daddy’s Duo shines on the dropdown

>Santa Anita / September 28 / Race 6 / 3:40 PDT

As far as choosing Highlight Horses is concerned, it doesn’t get much easier than Daddy’s Duo in race six. That is not to declare she’s a lock. She is no such thing. But an awful lot of our data points right at her.

She gets the top spotlight figure in the field (a 68) by a margin of eight points.

She gets the top Early Pace rating in the field, a 79.

She’s in a tie for the top Late Pace rating in the field, a 38. (This field contains precious little in the way of Late Pace, obviously.)

Pace Projector shows her in a deadheat for the lead at the opening quarter.

She has the best last-out speed figure in the race by a margin of 12 points.

Of all the horses who were competitive or even semi-competitive in their last race, she exits the strongest race based on our Race Ratings–a race rated 73.

In her last race, she stalked a hot pace, as denoted by the fractions and pace figures being color-coded in red, and stayed strong all the way to the wire, finishing a solid second.

Her Breeding Rating for today’s dirt sprint (84) is four points higher than it was for the synthetic sprints she is exiting.

Her trainer, Keith Desormeaux, gets a rating of 82 with claimers down in class and a rating of 88 with comparable spacing between starts.
