The four-year-old filly Mayie had an eventful trip in the second start of her career. After getting away alertly, she got herself into a bad position on the racetrack, lacked room at a pivotal point in the race while seemingly brimming with run, looked to go around horses, made a move in that direction, thought better of it and aborted it, and then made a rail dive, before finishing up with good energy.
That effort earned a speed figure of 65, which fits nicely in this field despite the trouble. She ran a 69 in her debut. She has been training extremely well for this race. Trainer Marty Jones is a superb, very much underrated trainer who seems to have this girl sitting on a big effort.
Joe Talamo takes the mount today. Talamo and Jones combine for a 96 rating when teaming up. Mayie is our selection.
Win bet on Mayie.
Use her under Think Again and Screamin Earlienne in exactas. And use her over those two in trifectas, while sprinkling in the frontrunning bomb Artie’s Fantasy and Hollywood Producer.
